COnNECTIoN
Innovation takes shape when different disciplines, cultures, and areas of expertise find a common language. During SOLARNOR 2026, the international seminar organised by IEA PVPS Task 15 and NTNU, researchers, architects, engineers, and stakeholders from different countries came together to discuss the future of building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). In a highly technical and multidisciplinary context, our goal was to transform the complexity of the dialogue into a visual narrative capable of fostering understanding, connection, and shared memory.

Throughout the day, we carried out a live scribing activity, translating presentations, panel discussions, and conversations into a single visual map in real time. Each contribution was summarised and connected to the others, bringing relationships, shared challenges, and future opportunities to the surface. Through visual thinking, we supported the dialogue between scientific research, technological innovation, and architectural design, creating a tool that made complex content accessible even beyond the event itself.

The result is a visual artefact that gathers and organises the knowledge shared during the seminar, transforming a sequence of presentations and discussions into a comprehensive overview. The map thus becomes a tool for dialogue and knowledge sharing, useful both to participants and to those who will continue to develop research and collaboration in the field of photovoltaic integration into the built environment. At an international event dedicated to innovation, visual language proved to be a bridge capable of connecting disciplines, technical languages, and geographical boundaries.
